Luxury on the Bay: Design for Modern Waterside Living

When longtime Design West clients were searching for their new home in Naples, they had a clear vision of how they wanted to live. As luxury commercial builders, they understand the value of craftsmanship and thoughtful design. And what they found was a unique house full of potential: a stark, unfinished space with glossy tiles and Miami-inspired color accents. It was the perfect canvas to tell their story.

Having worked with the owners on their previous home, the Design West team was familiar with their preference for clean lines, understated elegance, and comfortable sophistication – a style the clients call “conservative contemporary”. The goal of designers Morgan Bratcher, Eliety Perez, and Jocelyn Potter was to transform the space into a modern yet serene coastal retreat, ideally suited for two yet capable of hosting family and friends effortlessly.

Creating a Cohesive Mood

The transformation began with mood: calm, collected, and elevated. From this vision, a palette of warm neutrals, mixed wood tones, layered metals, sculptural glass, and soft reflective details emerged.

Architectural details such as reeded wood paneling and high-contrast moments between dark and light materials help define the rhythm of the home. A balance of masculine and feminine textures and sculptural elements was used to develop each room’s identity.

Every design choice, from finishes to furniture, supports both beauty and function, ensuring the home is as comfortable as it is refined.

Craftsmanship in Every Detail

Practicality and timeless elegance work hand in hand throughout the home. Metallic leather shelves showcase distinctive artwork. Custom furnishings add depth while providing comfort and durability. Layered lighting adapts the space from bright daylight to an intimate evening ambiance.

One of the most striking design features is the great room fireplace. The homeowners loved the original stone and mantle, but it did not reach the ceiling. As a dramatic architectural statement, the Design West team used dark reeded wood to create a bold moment that feels completely intentional and elevated. This wood detail was repeated in the entry, enhancing craftsmanship and cohesion throughout the space.

A Home That Reflects Its Owners

From the stunning foyer to the gallery-like halls, every space tells the story of the homeowners as travelers, builders, and adventurers who value artistry, comfort, and connection. This transformation is a testament to the power of collaboration and shared vision between clients and designers. When a vision aligns, a house becomes more than a place to live – it becomes a home that reflects the people within.

At Design West, we specialize in creating spaces that are as functional as they are beautiful, blending craftsmanship and style to tell your story. Discover how we can elevate your home by contacting us for a complimentary design consultation or visiting our Naples showroom.
